An excellent post, and also why you probably won’t see fan art on my tumblr. Nor do I really do it. It is, as Wegener says, unimaginative and not creative. Sure, series like Adventure Time and portal and fun to enjoy. I enjoy them very much myself, to be honest, but I feel, for the most part, that the stories of these characters and universes are so cemented into place it’s hard to make anything creative out of them for yourself. It’s not thinking for yourself. (And yes, I realize I did a painting of Rick Grimes from TWD, but that’s okay. Because I’m not that cynical)
It’s easy to make fan art. It’s hard to make your own.

I got published in the school newspaper here in Iceland!
The school (Menntaskóli Borgarfjarðar) newspaper is called Egla, which is just a name. Here’s the cover of the issue. It’s funny because I know everyone in the picture.
My two pieces Shelf Life and the last page of my comic An Homage were used, I got a full page spread in the middle. I wasn’t expecting that much space! Thanks guys!

I couldn’t remember how to spell luscious. If only I had a moleskine, I just have this knockoff Brunnen thing that I am not fond of. It’s too small, and the pages bleed through like crazy.
